Honfleur is a very picturesque fishing commune situated on the southern bank of the estuary to the River Seine characterized by it’s tall houses with slate-covered frontages surrounding the harbour. The town was painted many times by artists such as Monet, Courbet and Boudin who later formed the ‘École de Honfleur’ and was an integral part of the ‘Impressionist’ movement. Today the town is visited by many artists who enjoy to paint the very same views as the masters did and art lovers who explore the galleries and museums.
